Phoenixville man accused of attempted murder held on charges
PHOENIXVILLE - A Phoenixville man charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing a man inside his borough residence Jan. 17 was held on all the charges against him during his preliminary hearing Thursday.
William Donald Ayers Jr., 65, of the 200 block of St. Mary’s Street, entered a not guilty plea at his preliminary hearing through his attorney, James R. Freeman.
A Phoenixville police officer who responded to the stabbing and a witness who was inside Ayers’ residence at the time of the stabbing testified during the preliminary hearing. The witness said during testimony that he did not see the exchange between Ayers and the man who was stabbed, but entered the kitchen of the residence after hearing someone yell and saw “one man stabbed and one man holding a knife.” The witness testified Ayers was the man he saw holding the knife, and the witness said he took the victim to the hospital himself.Read Story
